Dr. Al Farris, Ph.D./D.Sc./MA. DSc. has received the mantle of Grandmaster in the system of Shaolin Kung-Fu. The style is Lung Shih Po, which translates to movement of the Golden Dragon. He is also the Founder (Soke) Grandmaster of the Modern Warrior System 360. The Modern Warrior System is a hybrid of mixed martial art styles. Dr. Farris has over forty-three years in the martial arts and thirty-nine years in law enforcement.

Grandmaster Farris serves the International Taekwondo Confederation as the Tactical Defense Solutions Vice President.

Dr. Farris serves as a Commander of the Training Division for one of the largest law enforcement agencies in Kentucky. He is a Law Enforcement Instructor, Rangemaster, Senior Firearms & Head Defensive Tactics Instructor, / Self-Defense Instructor. He holds three Master Use of Force certifications in law enforcement and instructs the Force Continuum. He has been recognized as a Use of Force Subject Matter Expert. Grandmaster Farris currently trains First Responders, Law Enforcement, and various United States military units. Their training includes de-escalation, defensive tactics, use of force, less lethal, and stopping a threat. The classes range from basic, intermediate, advanced, tactical, force-on-force, and edged weapons. Grandmaster Farris provides them with training in a range of styles and systems. He has been certified to instruct in over seventy specific areas of Law Enforcement and Martial Arts applications. Grandmaster Farris has had the opportunity to train with and train agents / officers - from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), United States Secret Service (USSS), United States Marshals Service (USMS), local, state, federal law enforcement agencies, swat teams, dignitary protection teams, training divisions, and various agencies throughout the United States of America during his tenure. Many of his training courses and instruction to these specific units are confidential.

Grandmaster Farris is the recipient of numerous martial arts awards, including Grandmaster of the Year and International Grandmaster of the year.

Grandmaster Farris is the recipient of the following awards in law enforcement, the Medal of Honor, the Medal of Valor, Veteran of Foreign Wars Award, Millennium Maker Award, Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award, and numerous exemplary awards.

Grandmaster Farris was recognized in the Chuck Norris, Masters and Pioneers book by the American Martial Arts Foundation. He was honored by being selected to be in the book and on the cover. The honor and privilege of a lifetime. He has since co-authored and been featured in ten different books.

Grandmaster Farris currently serves on the International Martial Arts Head Founders Grandmasters Council, approved by the International Martial Arts Council of America.

Grandmaster Farris is recognized in the Action Martial Arts Hall of Honors
Grandmaster Farris believes in treating everyone and everything with dignity and respect.

Dr. Farris is currently writing two books. Serving in law enforcement and dedicating a lifetime in the martial arts are two of his greatest passions. Dr. Farris is also passionate about helping people. His philosophy is very clear and straight forward, “Touch Lives, Change Lives and Save Lives!” for all are equal, nor can any life be replaced, show respect to everyone and everything.” 

In addition to law enforcement and martial arts, he serves the governor of the great state of Kentucky as a Kentucky Colonel.
